Recently our team was asked about the number of footnotes in our study bible. So we pulled together members of our team and tabulated

these figures:

HCSB Footnote Count (divided into the five levels)

[1] 1,586 textual footnotes

[2] 5,161 alternate readings (translation notes)

[3] 843 explanatory footnotes

[4] 27,565 cross-reference footnotes (which you're adding to)

[5] 237 cross-reference footnotes for the OT quoted in the NT (this number extracted from level [4] notes total)

Although we certainly desired to avoid creating a ginormous study bible, we wanted to create a substantive, biblical study bible that would strengthen the church. We are encouraged by the great stories that we are hearing about the HCSB study bible's helpfulness and pray that God continues to use it.
